SSH, which is an abbreviation for Secure Shell, is a network protocol that is used to transfer encrypted data between a client and a website hosting server, which makes it impossible for unauthorized parties to intercept any info. Many tech-savvy clients favor SSH mainly because of the better level of security. The connection is made and the commands are delivered via a command line. The available options depend on the type of hosting service - on a shared server, for example, files may be moved or deleted, databases can be imported and exported, and archives may be created or unpacked. On a virtual or a dedicated server, your options are much more - the web server and the database server could be started/stopped/rebooted, server-side software could be installed and more. These things are not possible on a shared server, since full root access is needed and all the other clients on that server would be affected. While SSH is employed predominantly with UNIX-like Operating Systems, there are SSH clients for other OSs too - Windows, Mac OS, etc.
SSH Telnet in Hosting
SSH access could be allowed with a mouse click from the Hepsia Control Panel if the hosting that you've chosen comes with this feature as standard. If not, you can add it from the Add Services/Upgrades section of your CP and enable it immediately. You'll find all the information which you need inside the SSH section of the CP - the host, the port number and the username that you must use, alongside in depth Help articles in which we've listed all of the commands that you can use within the account and examples of the syntax which you have use. The SSH password may be changed from the exact same section at any time with a couple of clicks. As long as SSH access is enabled, you shall also be able to connect securely using an FTP client as well. With an SFTP connection, each of the files which you upload shall go through an encrypted connection.
SSH Telnet in Semi-dedicated Servers
All our semi-dedicated server accounts offer the possibility to access and control them via SSH. If the package that you've chosen incorporates this function by default, you simply need to enable the SSH access feature using the corresponding section of the Hepsia CP. If the function is listed as an optional upgrade, you may quickly add it through the Add Services/Upgrades link in the Hepsia CP and it shall be available within a minute. We have various help articles and video tutorials regarding the use of SSH commands to handle your account and a whole list of the commands that you can execute alongside several examples to give you a better idea of what you can do. If SSH is active, you will also be able to create an SFTP connection to the account and to upload files securely via any FTP app that supports the feature.
SSH Telnet in VPS Servers
The VPS server plans we offer feature SSH access by default, not as an optional upgrade or a function which you should enable. The moment your new server is ready, you will be able to connect and begin working on your content through the login details which you have entered throughout the order procedure. A copy of the SSH credentials shall be sent to you via e-mail too. Since your VPS will be isolated from the other ones on the physical server, there are no limitations as to what you can or can't do using SSH. You could download, install and manage any piece of software that will run on a Linux hosting server, reboot the whole server or only a certain software component, and work with files, folders and databases without any restrictions. All you'll need for that is a console or an SSH client on your end.
